Abstract

The festival, the war: whereas everything seems to oppose these two themes of In the search of the lost time , this work is applied to show their deep affinities and the structuring role that they play in the work of Proust. Moments of supreme intensity and plunge into the unknown, disturbing and revealing episodes, parties (love, social, artistic and family) mark the highlights of the learning journey of the narrator of the Research . The war is itself seen as a vast grisly feast irreparably upset the company's novel and exacerbating the flaws in the national mythology of the young III th Republic, that the work takes in a sling. By making dialogue In search of lost time and the anthropological theories of the festival, this study takes an original look at the most famous scenes of the novel, including bedtime without a maternal kiss, the meeting with Gilberte Swann, the night bombings in Paris and the morning at the Princess of Guermantes.-- Honoré Champion
